Dale Gunstone has spent over 35 years working in education, leadership, and management training, supporting people across many industries and countries. Throughout that time, he has listened — really listened — to individuals, teams, and communities from different cultures, backgrounds, and belief systems.
What he learned was simple, and yet profound: every generation faces its own challenges, but every generation also carries hope.
Having worked closely with people from around the world, Dale has seen how the pressures on us all have changed — and how Generation Alpha, growing up in a fast-moving, fragile world, deserves the very best chance to thrive. Not just to succeed, but to care. To understand. To protect the planet they will one day inherit.
From an early age, Dale’s greatest fascination has always been the natural world. His schooling opened his eyes to how nature works, through his work on the school farm and how everything is connected, and how humanity flourishes most when it learns from nature rather than trying to dominate it. That sense of wonder has never left him.
Now, in retirement, that lifelong passion has found a new purpose.
Ollie’s Adventures was born from a desire to create stories that help children to slow down, listen, and reconnect — with animals, with the Earth, and with themselves. The books are not about magic or heroes with superpowers. They are about understanding, empathy, and the quiet strength that comes from paying attention.
They are also deeply personal.
As a grandfather now, Dale began writing these stories to create something lasting — memories shared, conversations sparked, and values passed gently from one generation to the next. As the series continues into The Understanding Years, readers will meet two very special people within Ollie’s world, just as real life and storytelling continue to intertwine.
